During my days working for Apple, I had the privilege of working with many talented and creative people. Thats where I met Steve, the lead guitarist for the band Earth To Starspace. I was able to get to know Steve and his quirky sense of humor during our shifts together, as well as the time spent cutting his hair. Knowing Steve was a musician, it took several months until I finally was able to see him perform. I was beyond impressed being able to see my former coworker kill it on the guitar for the first time. You can definitely see the passion and talent when Steve hops on the strings. If you ever looking for a new type of sound, with some beautiful vocals, be on the lookout for Earth To Starspace. I would like to give a special thanks to the band for having me! I enjoyed the evening and am looking forward to your up and coming music!
Interview with Earth To Starspace
When and where did Earth to Starspace first come together ?
The band began in Space, first as Jessie's original singer/songwriter project. She wrote some tunes and recorded an album at Sherlock Danger Studios with Steve. Jessie's debut Grey Matter was released in 2013. Playing solo started to get lonesome so we joined forces!
Whats the meaning behind the name?
We've gone through several iterations: Jessie K, then The Hoodrats, then Jessie K & the Galactic Cats. ⁃ THEN after about a year of super bad band name jokes, we decided to simplify.
The band wants to fill the universe with good vibes and love: to bridge the gap between what is known with the unknown with art and music.
Earth to Starspace. It was a mix of being grounded here on Earth and wanting to transmit our soundsout to space.
Whats the bands next big step/move forward and what's there to expect in the upcoming future? The band is currently recording a full-length album, Sunrise and Moonfall, a concept album exploring the depths and duality of human emotion. Hoping for a fall 2017 release! Look for us to be playing regularly throughout the NYC area and hopefully beyond!
What would you like to contribute to this particular industry?
Earth to Starspace is an evolving group of Earth, music, and peace lovers. What we hope to contribute to art-rock is to help deepen the appreciation for our craft. If we can help you hear or feel something you haven't felt before, we've succeeded in a pretty significant way. That's our goal, exploration.
