500 Miles away, with less than 2 weeks notice, Andy, Fred and I found ourselves driving eight hours north, through the night, in hopes to watch a breathtaking sunrise, from the top of Cadillac mountain located at Acadia National Park in Maine. Acadia, The Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast, is a place most will probably never end up visiting in their lifetime. Almost double the size of Staten Island (quite a small area), Acadia National Park is a beautiful tiny gem that I hope you can experience for yourself someday. With the neighboring town of Bar Harbor (Baa Haa Ba) at the base of the national park, you can find yourself driving through only 3 main winding roads, walking through a small town where everyone definitely knows each other, hiking through misty wooded trails, eating some savory, fresh, local seafood, witnessing amazing mountain top scenery and of course, smelling some refreshing northern air. Acadia is a true spectacle that often goes unheard.
This weekend getaway trip is one that I will surely remember. Luckily we brought the good weather, as it was raining right before we got there and began to rain on our way home. Our time was filled with sunny, clear blue skies, good laughs, great food, warm campfires, amazing scenery and so much more. Grateful for these two guys who were so willing to clear their schedules up and journey together north of New York City on such a short notice.
Andy and Fred, thank you for your friendship and company. Acadia will always have a special place in my memory and I am glad you guys were there for it. I will always remember: our funny laughs in the long car ride as well as around the campfire, watching a sunrise on top of a windy, cold ass mountain, listening to all the white people clap when the sun finally started to show, chugging white claws, eating steak, local lobster, camping in a tiny cabin, sifting through antique stores, scheduling a wolf preservation tour and not showing up, fishing along the coast without a fishing poles, surviving a crazy mosquito virus outbreak and so much more.
As Andy always says “Go outside!” and as Fred always says “Live full time!” I hope this inspires you to turn off the netflix, put your phone away, rally up some good people, pack a bag and go somewhere new. Adventure is surely out there. All you have to do is go and find it for yourself.
Our journey back to New York: Portland, Salem & Boston
